Syria Crisis: Amidst the current tense situation in Syria, the operations of the Indian Embassy are continuing normally in the capital Damascus. The Embassy is in touch with all Indian citizens and is ensuring their safety. The Indian Embassy has maintained constant contact with the members of the Indian community present in Syria. Apart from this, the embassy is giving priority to the safety of civilians in view of the current situation in Syria. The Embassy is making every possible effort to provide assistance to Indian citizens when needed.
According to news agency ANI, if we talk about the situation of Indian citizens in Syria, till now all Indian citizens are said to be safe. The Embassy has appealed to all citizens to follow local rules and safety guidelines. India has supported giving priority to dialogue and diplomacy to maintain peace and stability in Syria.

Citizens advised to avoid traveling
In view of the ongoing violence in Syria, India has advised its citizens to avoid traveling there and urged the citizens living in Syria to exercise caution. In an advisory, the Ministry of External Affairs asked Indians living in violence-affected countries to return back by taking the earliest available flight, if possible.
Helpline number released for Indians
Islamic rebels on Thursday virtually captured the central Syrian city of Homs after capturing most of the country’s largest city, Aleppo. Thousands of people have left Holmes. In an advisory, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also asked Indian citizens living in Syria to get in touch with the Indian Embassy in Damascus. The advisory said that Indians living in Syria should keep in touch with the Indian Embassy in Damascus on the emergency helpline number +963 993385973 and email id hoc.damascus@mea.gov.in.
The Ministry of External Affairs said, “In view of the current situation in Syria, Indian citizens are advised to avoid traveling to Syria until further notice.” It said, “Indians living in Syria are requested to stay informed.” Get in touch with the Indian Embassy in Damascus through helpline number and official email ID.
